Peter is our Company Director here at Evolve Technology having started the company earlier this year.
We recently had a catch-up with him to find out a bit more about both himself and Evolve.
How did you get into the Information Technology industry?
I had always taken an interest in technology when I was younger. As a result of this, I completed an IT apprenticeship in 2010 at the age of 19. From there I worked in various companies, all different sizes and roles, eventually finding my niche in MSP work.
What made you decide you wanted to run your own company?
I have always wanted my own business. From a young age, I liked the idea of working for myself. My dad has his own electrical business so perhaps I’ve got it from him.
I wanted to create something of my own that was my responsibility completely. I’m very passionate about both Customer Service and Technology. With Evolve I wanted to combine the two to give customers the most responsive, reliable, client focused technology support on the market.
What does a typical day look like as the Company Director of Evolve Technology?
A typical day for me is generally starting off in the office. I like to plan my week whereby I have time in the mornings to get through my to-do’s and catch up on emails. This means I have time in the afternoon to pop out to see customers, new clients, networking events etc. It doesn’t always work out like that though!
What is the best part of your job?
The people, my clients, I have built up some brilliant relationships over the years working in this industry.
I find it very rewarding helping new and old customers with technical issues in their business. Additionally, implementing solutions that provide an easier and productive way of working for them and their staff.
At the end of the day that’s what we are here for. It’s our job to take any technological stresses away from our customers. Subsequently, this allows them to do what they do best, running their own business.
What have you learned from where you started to where you are now?
Invest time in what you are good at, don’t try to do everything.
There have been many times in my career that I have tried to do absolutely everything. I have learnt over the past couple of years that delegating or outsourcing tasks, avoids burnout. In addition to this, it allows me more time to focus on other priorities.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy anything active, CrossFit, Golf, hiking, anything that get gets me moving! Also partial to a good night out with friends.
Where do you see yourself and the company in 5 years’ time?
I’d hope for Evolve to be one of the top IT and telecoms companies in the northeast. However, more importantly to be known for the great customer service of which we provide. And additionally, the relationships will build with all of our clients, regardless of size.
